    Where to Eat in Arezzo

Arezzo is one of Tuscany’s most interesting destinations, offering visitors the perfect
blend of history, art and authentic local life. With its outstanding museums, traditional artisan workshops and a lively historic centre, it’s a city well worth exploring.

It’s also an excellent destination for travellers who prefer not to drive, thanks to its convenient direct railway connections. The city can be reached from Florence in
around 40 to 55 minutes, while direct trains from Rome take between 1 hour 15
minutes and 2 hours, depending on the train service.

When it comes to food, visitors will find an impressive variety of restaurants, cafés, cocktail bars, artisanal bakeries and pastry shops, ranging from long-established
local institutions and traditional trattorias to contemporary restaurants, including several recognised by the Michelin Guide. Whether you’re looking for authentic Tuscan cuisine, a relaxed lunch or a memorable dining experience, Arezzo has something to suit every taste.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to try many of these places firsthand. The restaurants featured in this article are just a small selection of those I’ve personally enjoyed and continue to recommend to my guests. Every itinerary I create is tailored to each traveller’s tastes, interests and travel plans, so the places below offer just a small glimpse into that personalised approach.

    So, let’s begin

    ● Pasticceria F.lli Bruschi

Located just a short walk from Casa Vasari, this historic artisan pastry shop,
established in 1937, is the perfect place to start your day in Arezzo. Inside, you’ll find an excellent selection of freshly baked pastries, traditional Italian breakfast treats, cakes and savoury specialities. During my last visit, I enjoyed a pistachio croissant and an apple puff pastry, accompanied by an excellent cappuccino. A true Italian breakfast, and one I would happily recommend before spending the day exploring the city.

    ● Antica Osteria L’Agania
In the heart of Arezzo, Antica Osteria L’Agania has been a symbol of local tradition since 1910
. Managed by the same family for four generations, it’s one of those places where Tuscan hospitality and authentic flavours have been carefully preserved over
    time.

The warm, rustic dining rooms, decorated with old photographs, wine bottles and traditional details, create a welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The menu celebrates the flavours of Arezzo and Tuscany, with homemade pasta, desserts and recipes prepared with simple, genuine ingredients.

During my last visit, I started with a selection of traditional Tuscan crostini topped with mushrooms, fresh tomato, spinach and the classic chicken liver pâté. This was followed by a delicious plate of tagliolini with white truffle, a rich chocolate panna cotta and, of course, an excellent espresso. Good food, a welcoming atmosphere and reasonable prices make this one of the places I always enjoy recommending to anyone visiting the city.

Good to know: The restaurant doesn’t accept reservations and tables are assigned
on a first-come, first-served basis. Despite its popularity, I’ve generally found waiting
times to be quite reasonable, as tables become available throughout the service.

    ● Vineria Ciao dal Chiodo

Discovered during my latest visit to Arezzo, Vineria Ciao dal Chiodo is a family-run restaurant located in Piazza Sant’Agostino. With its warm welcome, simple rustic atmosphere and friendly service, it immediately made a great first impression.

The menu focuses on traditional Aretine and Tuscan cuisine, with homemade fresh
pasta and well-prepared dishes. During my lunch, I enjoyed a delicious plate of strozzapreti cacio e pepe, followed by a homemade wild berry cheesecake to finish.
It was a wonderful discovery, and certainly a place I’ll be looking forward to visiting again on my next trip to Arezzo.
